How To Take A StandAs God touches your heart through the worship, challenge, and commitment at The Stand Event you may find yourself wondering how you can take a stand and become a powerful witness for Jesus Christ. The following are ideas to get you jump-started in your decision to Stand strong for Jesus Christ.
We encourage you to:
Read
Read your Bible every day
Pray
Pray every day
Carry
Carry your Bible and your witness
Lead
Lead others
Here are some suggestions about how you can achieve these goals.
READ - Your Bible
You have to keep yourself plugged into the power source. Nobody can do it for you. you can't live spiritually off of music, the internet, youth group, or even just church. Jesus said, "Man cannot live by bread alone, but by the Word of God."
How?
Pick a Time
Pick a Place
Pick a Plan
There are many great rading plans available. Find one that you like and start simply. Make reading your Bible a daily part of your life and soon it will become an enriching habit.
PRAY - Everyday
Prayer was God's idea. He wanted you to talk to Him. When you read your Bible, you are listening. When you pray, you are talking one on one to a friend.
HOW DO I PRAY?
Praise god for the great things about Him--like you would say to any good friend.
Remember the things that God has done for you and the things you need to confess.
Ask Jesus for anything! He Cares about it all!
Yield by saying "yes" to God and let Him "go first". Let Jesus be first in your life.
CARRY - Your Bible and Your Witness
Carry my Bible? Paul said, "Stand...Taking the sword of the spirit, the word of God into every battle fearlessly." (Ephesians 6:14, 17, 20)
But why carry my Bible?
It's like taking a water bottle when biking
It's like taking a compass when hiking
It's like taking a GPS when driving
It's like breathing oxygen while scuba diving
It's like taking a flashlight when caving
It is FULL OF LIFE FOR YOU!
It has LIFE ANSWERS with you at all times!
Carry your witness by wearing The Stand wrist-band and other "witness wear". Let everyone know YOU STAND!
Lead-Others
Lead by going to, or starting a prayer group or Bible study where you are! School, work, church...wherever!
HOW DO I START SOMETHING?
Pray! Ask God to give you 1 or 2 others. Then, you’ve got a group!
Start! Start meeting together—everyday, once a week … you decide.
Pray for:
Each other & needs
Your families
Lost friends
Your group to grow
God to work
God to teach you
Invite! Others to join you.
HOW TO PRAY FOR THE LOST
(Taken from: The Christian Club Guide)
(Non-Christian Friends & Family)
If you’re not sure what to pray or how to pray for your non-Christian friends, the following outline will give you some ideas. Work through it thinking of your friend, then write down needs God impresses on you.
PRAY for God to work in their heart.
Pray for their eyes to be opened spiritually. (II Corinthians 4:3-4)
Pray for them to be open to God’s love and receptive to the truth.
Pray that barriers to receiving Christ would be torn down.
For example,
Life-style—that you would honor Him with your life-style, and be an authentic Christian—demonstrating a real, Christ-like walk.
Motives—that you would really love and serve fellow students, regardless of how they respond to your witness.
Insight—that you would know how to best serve and meet needs.
Opportunities—that you would be aware of opportunities to share some kind of verbal witness as you continue to demonstrate Christ’s love. (Ephesians 6:18-19)
Wisdom—that you would allow the Holy Spirit to control you, to help you be ready, and to give you the right approach and words to say. (I Peter 3:15, Luke 12:12)
PRAY for their response.
That they would believe.
That they would follow Christ and grow in Him.
Note: Not everyone you tell about Christ will be ready to follow Him. Keep on loving and serving, and keep on praying for them. Many great men and women of the Christian faith have told how they’ve prayed for years before seeing some family members or friends come to Christ. Be faithful. Remember that your responsibility is not to “save” all your friends but to demonstrate Christlike love and to explain the Gospel to those who are open.
if they have had difficulties at home —abuse, divorce, absent parent — or have lost a close family member, they may be bitter toward God. Low self-esteem and wrong friends or dating relationships can also be barriers. Just ask God to show you what might keep your friend from being receptive.PRAY for God to work in these areas of your life:

That you will be consistent in loving the lost—even those who do not appear to be open to the Gospel.
That your life would be a Christ-like model.
(I Corinthians 4:16)
That you will be able to help new Christians grow—get them involved in a church and teach them to read the Bible and pray.

HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN
Following Jesus is a lifelong process. It is not profitable or fruitful to argue at which point a person is “saved.” Instead, we encourage people to follow the Bible’s pattern to listen, believe, confess, repent and be baptized. These are immovable elements in the Bible’s pattern. Trying to remove one element is like trying to remove flour from an apple pie. All elements are part of the Bible’s process.
Listen to Jesus
Matthew 17:5
Believe in Jesus
John 11:25
Confess His Name
Acts 8:37
Repent of Sin
Acts 3:19-20
Be Baptized into Jesus
Acts 2:38
Acts 22:16
Grow in Grace
II Peter 3:18
